About Stanley Farm and Ranch

2011, Huntsville, Texas: we bought 30 acres of raw pine woods that didn't come with a farm, a house, or a map. A father and his sons threw up a little cabin and started clearing. That cabin turned into a real home, and the rest of the place filled in the hard way — donkeys at the fence, chickens on the clock, cattle in the pastures, a greenhouse for vegetables, and a pond we dug ourselves.

These days the pond is where a lot of the living happens: fishing, swimming, kids tearing around on the water. We hunt the property. We burn through a lot of early mornings out there as a family. What used to be thirty acres of nothing is home for more than one generation now. It isn’t fancy. It’s just our place — work, animals, and the people we do it with.

The place is in Walker County, Huntsville, Texas — pine woods, not blackland prairie. Last spring frost and first fall frost for this spot live on the Huntsville frost-dates page. The pond we dug is the same one in the family photos. We are not a storefront and we don’t sell freezer beef off this site.
