Donkeys and goats near the pens

Morning the chickens were already stirring in the coop, half a dozen of them moving around on the shavings under that bright lamp. A couple of white ones mixed in with the black, the rooster standing tall among them like he was in charge.
Later
By afternoon a couple from Virgil's bunch had come into the barn, one walking the dirt while another stood farther back. Evening found Virgil and Zander out among the pines taking it easy, the pair near the trees with a few goats standing and lying in the pens nearby. A small flock of chickens pecked along the fence too.
